What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is an altered state of consciousness. The easiest way to describe it is as a state of deep relaxation, ideally, you’re neither asleep or awake, but drifting somewhere in between.
Are you going to make me cluck like a chicken if someone clicks their fingers?
No, I am not going to make you think you are a chicken, make you stand on your head or hand over your bank details. You are always in complete control of the session and you can wake yourself from hypnosis at any time.
What can hypnotherapy help with?
Hypnotherapy can help with a range of areas from anxiety, pain management, changing behaviours, jealousy, phobias, public speaking, painful memories, IBS, weight loss, lack of confidence, relaxation, aggression, changing habits, bereavement, sport performance, self-esteem, writers block, gambling, performance anxiety, relationship enhancement, fears, motivation, exam anxiety, improve communication, this is not an exhaustive list.
How many sessions will it take?
Sessions are tailored to the individual, you might feel that you want a few sessions in close succession or several over a few months. 4 – 6 sessions are generally recommended but as the client you control the process, so it’s entirely up to you. Hypnotherapy is not about keeping you on long term, it’s about helping you and sending you on your way again.
How much do the sessions cost?
Sessions are £50 and generally last around an hour to an hour and a half depending on what is being worked on at the time.
What is the process?
After initial contact and booking your first appointment, I ask for a £10 non-refundable deposit which is redeemable against your first session, this can be taken via BACS or PayPal.
Sessions can work over a time frame to suit you and your development. You may find weekly appointments useful to start with, progressing to fortnightly or monthly and then none at all, with the option to come back anytime as and when needed. Equally, you may find that an intensive run of sessions is more suitable for you.
As each session is individually tailored to you, so is the process. Hypnotherapy is a great tool on its own or it can work well alongside NLP and mindfulness techniques, if this turns out to be something that could be beneficial to you. Check out the NLP coaching and mindfulness pages for more information.
